Who said we need 8 anyway
So today's game against Storm was... interesting. It transpires that you can korf with 6 or 7 instead (well some of us can, others just get knackered after 20 minutes aka me). However, it did make for some very exciting action with the first twenty minutes raining korfs to make it 10-4 to Storm. I would also like to say that due to a number of last minute player drop outs we did end up making the teams a bit weird. So, to make things a bit clearer and easier to understand here were the teams:
Stormish
Ben Jenkins
Wilbert den Hoed
Stephen Shields
Jonny (normally a nighthawk) Howard
Amanda (for a bit, she got injured so get well soon!) Crass
Ruth Davison
Liz
Kirsty(she didn't even know she was playing until the second half)
Uni +1
Chris Baker
Hyun Gyu Ku
Harry Waterman
Matt Walker
Rebekah Albiston
Rosa Schmoti
Hazel (usually a storm player) Harbottle
Got that? No me neither and I was playing. Some super shooting made for a very tight and quick start with the score quickly reaching 3-3 thanks to a first score from Matt, Harry and Hyun Gyu. However, with the deadly Stormish three of Ruth, Ben and Wilbert the score did start to become a bit one sided but the pace stayed fast. Twenty in and Chris had nabbed one back to get it to 10-4 before Rosa and Amanda ran into each other and Amanda went down quite nastily. Get well soon!
This reduced the game from 7 a side to 6 a side. The game slowed down a lot after the injury and the scores were 10-4 going in to half time. We might have taken quite a while to get our breath after 3v3 divisions.
Second half and quick switch up of divisions to level out the divisions and we were off again. Things didn't progress at anywhere near the same pace though. Rebekah got in the wars a bit with Ruth on a number of occasions until Harry sent Steve flying with a dummy (I didn't see it but Harry was pretty pleased).
Yet another twist however, as Hazel returned to the field with Kirsty, who was only there for support, jumped back in with 15 minutes left to play to make it 7 a side again.
The game petered out from here to be honest with the final result 15-6.
Player of the match: Rebekah Albiston
For me it has to be Rebekah for yet another sterling effort, plenty of good defensive moves and chances created. I would like to give Jonny and Rosa who really came on a lot today a shout out. Definitely coming on quick so keep up the good work!
Finally, our last game of the season will be on Thursday against Titans. We are still in need of girls to play so if you fancy it let me know! Other then that a get well soon to Jess, Morgan and Arturo who had to pull out this morning due to illness.
See you on Thursday for the final time this year! Howay the korf!
