NEKA makes its live debut

Welcome back everyone! That was all quite exciting on Thursday wasn't it, with a plethora of korfs being sunk from all over the place. Anyone that managed to join in on the live feed or support was treated to 33 goals and some absolute stunners too.

First up was Tyneside Titans vs Newcastle Uni with Rosa making her debut and Jonny and Matt making only their second appearance in what was definitely a step up in competition with Newcastle BUCS heroes Kerry, Blythe and Miles all playing against Uni. The new team dynamic definitely showed as well as a slow start by Newcastle meant Kerry was having a field day with her runners. Thankfully though some good defending from Chris meant that we managed to keep Miles relatively quiet which once we switched on allowed us to calm things down a bit and regather.

We went in at half time with the game already gone at 6-1, Jess scoring a free pass to give Newcastle their first point. The aim for the second half: don't do what we did in the first half! Unfortunately though we couldn't lift ourselves back into contention and we fell away towards the end of the game which ended 11-2 to Titans.

However, there is no rest in the korf world and Northumbria were up straight after. At this point I would like to say sorry for confusion caused over the live stream as we ended up only being able to bring you the first game live so I'll guess you'll just have to take my word for what happened.

Now when you have back to back games we all love a good sub... if we had some! Our only sub was lost after Hyun Gyu had to step in and referee his first game -can't believe he disallowed my two goals :'( - meaning our between game talk consisted mainly of drinking as much as possible and sorting out our switching and some new attacking options.

We had a slight switch up of divisions and we were ready to go again. It appeared however that Northumbria were unable to miss a single shot with a near 100% shot conversion in the opening 15 which as any team would tell you is incredibly difficult to play against. Ultimately though once the fifteen minute madness subsided it was a pretty even contest. The score line reflected this as from 11-2 down at half time, the game finished 15-4, showing that we can more then hold our own.

The NEKA league may be gone for this year but we still have a couple of games left to play before we wrap the season up and say goodbye to some of our talented bunch. We are progressing as a side and hopefully next year we can start to really make strides in the league and send those leaving us off with a win.

Next up we have Storm and possibly Northumbria on Sunday 13th at another double header at the uni sports centre so feel free to come and watch. Until then, howay the korf!
