NEKA; Newcastle 1s vs Northern Storm 2s

Just a day after BUCS, Nighthawks were off to play Northern Storm in thankfully a more local fixture. Coach Hyun Gyu and Captain Chris (who were slightly worse for wear after BUCS) stepped in ,in the absence of Korf Mum Fran to lead the team which included a debut for Kirsten and only a second competitive fixture for Harry.

In this first half the greater experience of Storm and the tiredness of Nighthawks showed as Storm took an unassailable 7-0 lead through some well worked moves and goals from several players.

However, Nighthawks showed some fight in the second half as after the break Chris got us on the board linking up nicely with Hyun Gyu for a well taken drop off shot. Storm quickly struck back though Ben but we responded through some great individual skill from Rebekah. Some impressive defensive work and a never say die attitude meant that we managed to make it over the line with a 10-2 loss. This is not a score to be ashamed of though as the performance compared to our previous NEKA game was on a different level second half and we started to show glimmers of what we can do. With some more hard work in training we will bounce back to hopefully try and claim a first league win. Also a shout out to Harry for his great defensive work today.

Next up for Newcastle is the Leeds Tournament so join us then for some more korf action.
